The CitiSense project empowers marginalized communities to actively shape local governance by putting digital data-generation tools directly into their hands. Led by the Active Citizenship Foundation (ACF) along with IPG and CARET, the initiative bridges the gap between citizens and local governments by teaming up with youth tech experts to co-develop these platforms. By training 100 “Data Champions” across five target areas, the project equips grassroots organizations to capture critical community concerns that often go unnoticed by public officials.
CitiSense translates this grassroots data into actionable policy influence. The project helps communities use their findings to directly engage local development councils, driving at least 15 evidence-based advocacy plans and five concrete local campaigns. By sharing these frameworks with a broader network of NGOs, the initiative aims to replace patronage-based politics with a culture of inclusive, data-driven local development.
