A holistic review of public health preparedness and mental health support systems, this webinar looks at how public health systems meet community health during a global medical emergency. The speakers point out the weaknesses of national health infrastructure and show the sharp increase in psychological distress, anxiety and depression among young people and health care workers. The key findings show that overloaded hospital systems and long periods of isolation hampered both care and mental care delivery. Main recommendations ask for mental health services to be integrated into healthcare for the state to increase its budget, for public health systems and for the welfare of health workers to be protected.
